Thank you for pausing what ever it was you were doing to check out my new space. I welcome you, old friends and new friends, to venture along side this alternative journey with me. I hope to share my experience on raising my modern family in a natural and holistic environment, by keeping it practical and simple.
What does raising a family naturally mean? Well for starters, no one is perfect and motherhood sure has taught me to never judge how any one else chooses to parent. We are all constantly trying to do our best. Thanks to many perfectly curated instagram feeds there are many moments I second guess myself. However, I have taken the positive elements of my upbringing mixed them with my husbands and somehow we curated a parenting plan. Parenting is not perfect, I am mentioning that twice, because no matter what, we are going to make mistakes! They can blame us later... So in this 5 year journey thus far, with our little Coco, it has certainly been up and down. The one area I can say I have held my ground, which may be the only thing I really know, is she is growing up herbal. For me this means using mother nature as our tool to treat and heal day to day ailments. It can be as little a splinter, or maybe its some emotional support, and sometimes, thankfully very rarely, it's a fever. There are many alternative options around us but they can seem overwhelming if we don't know where to look. It can be daunting trying it out on your own for the first time. Google is our best and worst nightmare. I hope, in this space, I can lay it out plane and simple for you. Providing you with tips, recipes, videos and resources. To shine light on awareness, that there can be another way to take care of our families needs.
We use homeopathy, essential oils, herbs, flower remedies as well as Chinese and Indian medicine to combat most common issues. We try to eat organic 90% of the time but we also love to dine out, which Im realizing is not great for our guts nor our wallets! I try to be sustainable in most areas of our lives except shopping for clothes, I am still a stylist at heart! Our home is non-toxic, we avoid the use of any harsh chemicals to clean our counters or our bodies. But yes I dye my hair, I am blonde it is impossible to use natural dye unless I want to be orange (tried & tested & failed). So we do our best. We also enjoy living, we don't want to reside in a bubble or be restricted. Life is meant to be fun, let's live it, taking care our our health just means we can have more fun for longer!!
