HOMEMADE: LEAVES FALL GARLAND

HOMEMADE: LEAVES FALL GARLAND

Leaves are falling
Leaves are falling
To the ground
Without a sound

Days are getting shorter
Nights are getting longer
Fall is here
Fall is here

I love this time of year, I really think it is becoming one of my favorite seasons. Los Angeles has long drawn out heat waves leading all the way into October, so once Halloween arrives we usually turn that corner right into fall. To top it off the clocks went back last night and now it is getting dark much much earlier. Our routine at home becomes tighter, we draw each other in and enjoy spending more time together in smaller quarters. We sit round the coffee table and play games, we sit at the dinner table earlier by candle light. We all want to be cozy and close.

As the holiday season is in full swing we also become big crafters. With so much nature around us it is fun to use what the earth has provided us with to create seasonal inspired crafts. For fall we love collecting leaves, all shapes and sizes. Then we hang the ones we love on a garland made from sticks and yarn and hang them around the house. It really makes the home feel like fall.

With the seasons shifting we head straight to the library. Gathering books to help transition and educate why and how it all happens. A great book to explain why the leaves fall is a book called 'Fall Leaves' by Loretta Holland, it has sweet illustrations and a very good description for the change of season. Here is a sneak peek...
